Program Exam Weighting for the VLS is different from Exam Weighting for VISION Developer tests.
Program Exam Weighting takes multiple training units and creates one exam from them in the VISION Learning Station. Usually the learning station would create one exam for each training unit in a course and weight them all equally within the course. Using Exam weighting, you will create one test with as many training units as you like, and you will be able to set the percent or number of questions that will be taken from each individual training unit.
For example, if you created a course with three training units, the Learning Station would deliver three exams (one for each training unit) and the learner's score would be comprised of an average between them. If you use Exam Weighting, the Learning Station will deliver one exam, which would be comprised of questions from all three training units according to the weight you assign to each lesson. In this case an exam might contain 20% questions from one training unit, 20% from the second, and 60% from the third. This way you can put emphasis on the most important training unit's questions.
Tips:
•Exam Weighting is only used with the Cognitive Exam Only type of training unit.
•You can select either a percent of questions or a specific number of questions from each training unit with the "from the selection" drop-down menu at the bottom of the Weighting window.
•Percentage exam weights must add up to 100%.
Follow these steps to make a weighted exam:
1.Before you create the weighted exam, you may wish to approve all of the training units you will be using on it.
2.Create a Cognitive Exam Only training unit.
3.Right click on the Cognitive Exam Only training unit and select Program Exam Weighting. This will open the Weighting window.
4.Highlight and drag the training units you'd like to test into the Weighting window.
5.Click on each training unit and enter the percent weight (or number of questions) it will contribute in the "Exam shall get" box. Remember that together, they all must add up to 100%. The "All" box will keep a tally of percent or questions that have been contributed to the exam so far.
6.In the training unit, click on the Tests page.
7.Click on the Assessment Profile button and select an assessment profile that is based on number of questions.
8.When you are done, click the OK button.
9.Remember to publish to web and mark the training unit as Completed-Active when it is ready to be delivered to learners.
Check to ensure that you have completed all the steps to publish a course from the Developer to the Learning Station:
•Save Word or PowerPoint content as HTML or MP4 on the Content page. You can publish a course without saving your Word or PPT content as HTML or MP4, but only HTML or MP4 content will appear in the VISION Learning Station.
•Click the Deliverable checkbox on the Content page for all content you want to publish to the Learning Station. Anything left unchecked will not be delivered in the VLS.
•Click the Deliver checkbox on the Content page for all content you want to publish for question remediation or qualification (this is separate from delivering content for a lesson, which is done in the Training Unit).
•Set the objective's Status to Approved on the General page. You cannot approve the training unit if any of its objectives are not approved.
•On the training unit's Design page, click the Content button and check the Deliver checkbox for all the content you will use in the VLS. Anything left unchecked will not be delivered in the VLS.
•Optionally, you can enter an introduction on the TU's Introduction page. If you do so, be sure to Convert it to HTML on the Introduction page as well, or your introduction will not be delivered.
•Optionally, you can enter a summary of the lesson on the TU's Summary page. If you do so, be sure to Convert it to HTML on the Summary page as well, or your summary will not be delivered.
•Depending on the type of Training Unit you are using, you may need to assign an Assessment Profile on the Tests page. If the training unit requires an Assessment Profile, you will not be able to deliver the course in the VLS without one.
•Set the program's Status to Completed-Active on the General page. The training unit must be approved to be delivered to the VLS.
•On all pages of the training unit's properties, there is an LS Options button. Click this and select Publish to VISION LS to deliver this training unit to the VISION Learning Station.
•Set the program's Status to Completed-Active on the General page. The course must be approved to deliver its training units to the VLS.
