VISION User Guide

This page shows the learning objectives that are sequenced into the program, as well as the content sections that will be delivered from those objectives in the Learning Station, for this program.

Before objectives can be sequenced into a program, the program needs to be designated as a training unit. That can be done on the General page.

Learning Objectives

This panel shows the learning objectives that are sequenced into this training unit. A program must be designated a training unit in order for objectives to be sequenced into it.

The sequence of the objectives can be re-ordered by dragging and dropping them within this window, or within the objective links window at the bottom of the workbench.

Objectives not in an "Approved" status are shown in red text.

TipTip: To choose the content sections from each objective to present in the Learning Station for this training unit, click the "Content" button below.

Objective Content Objects

This panel shows the deliverable content objects in each objective.

Objectives not in an "Approved" status are shown in red text.

Deliver

Click on the "Deliver" checkboxes to choose which content objects to present in the Learning Station from each objective, for this lesson only.

This doesn't affect which content sections get presented for any other training units that may contain the same objectives.

To change the order of presentation of the content sections, you can either uncheck and re-check them, or you can simply drag the sections to the desired positions.

Hold

The "Hold" checkbox will prevent a learner from proceeding beyond the content object in a VISION Learning Station course until the Hold is released by the instructor. Holds can only be applied to content objects marked for Delivery.

If the checkbox is already checked, clicking on it allows you to edit or cancel the hold requirement.

Tip Holds are meant to pause all learners in a course and give them an opportunity to upload documents that their instructor can review before they proceed. Once a hold is released, the learner won't be able to edit or upload new documents to it, so it is important for an instructor to review any documents before releasing a hold.

Transition Statement

A transition statement is some plain text that connects one content section to the next content section in that lesson. The transition statement is presented in the Learning Station after the content it is attached to.

Transition statements are permitted only for content sections marked as "Deliver" in the training unit. That's because the statement belongs not to the content section itself, but only to its presentation in this particular training unit.

That means the same content section can have a different transition statement in a different training unit. It also means that if you uncheck the "Deliver" box for a content section, thereby terminating the presentation of the section in this training unit, the section's transition statement (if it has one) will be deleted later when the OK button is clicked to close the program workscreen.

You can double-click on a delivered content section to edit its transition statement.

Questions Per Objective Assessment Profile

Warning For VISION Learning Station Only.

Unlike most assessment profiles, this one is created in the VISION Developer module. Select the "Questions Per Objective" assessment profile on the Tests page, and then click the Content button on this page to set the number of questions that will be selected from each objective.

VLS Questions Column

This is part of Questions Per Objective Assessment Profile. This is the number of questions available for this objective. Click the blue number link to set the number of questions that will be selected.

Minimum: The least number of questions you can select for this assessment profile. The minimum may not be zero if this objective has questions that are marked as Always Select from Question Pool.

Maximum: The greatest number of questions you can select from this objective. These questions are Active, and are not Practice Questions.

WarningIf you use Question Exclusivity  you may not have as many questions available as are displayed on this screen.

Content

This button toggles between two views of the panel above it. Initially the panel above shows simply the list of learning objectives in the training unit. But when the button is pressed in, the panel shows the objectives and their deliverable content sections. In this mode, it is possible to view and change which content sections (or objects) get presented in the Learning Station for this training unit.

Properties (Transition)

Click this button to show the properties of the selected objective.

Transitions

This button reads "Transition", not "Properties", whenever a content section, rather than an objective, is selected in the panel above.

Click the Transition button to view or edit the transition statement that the Learning Station will present following the selected content section—for this particular training unit.

Transition statements are optional, but they can be helpful in making a lesson presentation flow more smoothly in the Learning Station.

A transition statement applies only to content section's use in a particular training unit. So a content section can have a different transition statement in each lesson it is used in.

TipTip: You can also double-click on an objective to show its properties, or on a delivered content section to edit its transition statement.

Unlink

Click this button to unlink, or ‘unsequence’ all selected objectives. After unlinking an objective, it will be removed from the list.

TipTip: If your goal here is to re-sequence the objectives into a different unit of instruction, you should do this operation from a Workbench, where it is easier.

Rebuild

Click this button if you get a database error when sequencing or un-sequencing an objective. If the rebuild process is successful, you should be able to perform the operation again without any more errors.

TipTip: If the program unit is a training unit with sequenced objectives and you want to move some or all objectives to a different training unit, follow these steps:

1.Exit the Program Properties workscreen.

2.While this program is selected in the program hierarchy, see the "Objectives Linked to …" window at the bottom of the workbench.

3.Select from that list of sequenced objectives those objectives that you want to move.

4.Click and hold down your left mouse button and drag the objectives to the program unit that you want to move them to.
