Writing Test Questions for Objectives

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Test questions are an essential component of any instructional program.  They are used (a) as part of the instructional process, (b) to determine whether or not a learner is ready to move on, and (c) to identify weaknesses in the training program.  Writing good test questions then, is about as important as writing good objectives.

For training that is "objectives based," every objective will be measured by one or more corresponding test items.  Some objectives are hands-on; these are measured with evaluation checklists.  Other objectives are cognitive, or  "academic" in nature.  This type of objective can be measured with the more traditional, paper pencil type of test.
