VISION User Guide

What are Certifications?

Certifications enable you to attach credits, normally kept as hours, to courses in the VISION Developer module and then keep track of the accumulated credit hours in VISION Learning Station. Every time a student completes course that has credits associated with it, VISION Learning Station calculates the credits that should be applied for the student, making it easy to track and report student progress. Credits are only applied when the student obtains a passing score or higher.

With the VISION Certification module, you can do the following:

Create different categories of certification credits.

Assign certification credits to lessons.

Track the credits that students earn when they complete a lesson.

Create reports detailing each student’s completion of each certification.

Overview of Steps

In order to use certifications in VISION, you must first create all of the required cross-reference tables in VISION Developer. After that, you can apply certification credits to courses, create certifications in the VISION Learning Station, and create certification records for learners. This is an overview of the process of setting up certifications in VISION so that you will know what to expect when you begin.

Set Up Certifications in VISION Developer

1.Create cross reference table(s) for certifications in VISION Developer.

2.Create cross reference items for certification requirements and link them to the certification table(s) in VISION Developer.

3.Link certification credits (requirement table items) to applicable course lessons in VISION Developer.

Administer Certifications in VISION Learning Station

1.Add Certifications to the VISION Learning Station: Here you will enter the details of each certification, such as for how long a certification is valid and for whom the certification is available.

2.Add Certification Learners: Assign user records to the certification.

3.Add Certification Requirements and Rules: Add rules regarding carry over, etc, to the certification.

4.Create Certification Records: Each learner needs a certification record for each of their certifications in order to record credits. Set these up with this procedure.
