VISION User Guide

Below is a list of all menu options under the Font menu. The Font menu option will only appear in the menu when you are working in a document.

TipTip: To get help on any of these commands from VISION, click the Help button Icon-Whats-This and select any command from the menu.

Normal: Resets or clears character formats (Bold, Underline, Double Underline, Italic, Subscript, Superscript, Strikethrough) for the current character, or for all characters in a highlighted block of text.

Character Style: Apply a style to the selected text. The style is chosen from a list of character style names.

oTo create a new style or edit an existing one, select Edit Arrow Style from the Main Menu.

Face/Size: (Alt+F10) Change the font face or size of the selected text.

Bold: (Ctrl+B) Formats the selected text as bold. If you select this command again, the Bold formatting is removed.

Italic: (Ctrl+I) Formats the selected text in italics. If you select this command again, the Italic formatting is removed.

Underline: (Ctrl+U) Formats the selected text with a single underline. If you select this command again, the Underline formatting is removed.

Double Underline: Formats the selected text with a double underline. If you select this command again, the Double Underline formatting is removed.

Dotted Underline: Formats the selected text with a dotted underline. If you select this command again, the Dotted Underline formatting is removed.

Strikethrough: Draws a line through the selected text. If you select this command again, the Strikethrough formatting is removed.

Double Strikethrough: Draws a double line through the selected text. If you select this command again, the Double Strikethrough formatting is removed.

Boxed: Places a box around the selected text. To remove the box, you must select all text inside of the box and then select this command again.

All Caps: Displays the selected text in uppercase, without actually replacing lowercase letters with uppercase ones. Thus when you turn off All Caps, the letters again display in their true case.

Small Caps: Displays lowercase letters within the selected text as small uppercase letters. When Small Caps is turned off, the lowercase letters are once again displayed normally.

Superscript: Formats the selected text in superscript (ExampleExample). If you select this command again, the Superscript formatting is removed. The size and position of the superscript text are dependent on the font selection and size.

Subscript: Formats the selected text in subscript (ExampleExample). If you select this command again, the Subscript formatting is removed. The size and position of the subscript text are dependent on the font selection and size.

Character Spacing: Stretches (Example) or compresses (Example) the spacing of characters in the selected text.

Horizontal Scaling: Expands (Example) or shrinks (Example) the selected text, but only horizontally, without altering the text height.

Text Color: Changes the color of the selected text.

Background Color: Changes the background color behind the selected text. This is one of several similar, but not identical, color properties.

Underline Color: Changes the color of the underline in underlined text.

Hide: Toggles the hidden property for the selected text. That is, hides or stops hiding the selected text.

oTo view any hidden text in the document, select menu item View Arrow Hidden Text. When hidden text is visible, it is displayed with a dashed underline.

oWarning VISION inserts hidden, protected text in generated documents, which allows you to get from the document back to the data objects from which the document content originated.

Protect: Prevents the selected text from being modified in VISION. If you select this command again, the protection is removed. Text that is protected is a different color and cannot be modified or deleted in the document.

oWarning This command is disabled if Protection Lock under the Tools menu is checked.
