VISION User Guide

Below is a list of all menu options under the File menu. Some of these appear only when a document is the active window.

TipTip: To get help on any of these commands from VISION, click the Help button Icon-Whats-This and select any command from the menu.

New: (Ctrl+N) Creates a empty document window. VISION supports the following document types:

oRich-Text Document (RTF): This type of document is similar to a Microsoft Word document, and it can be edited in Word. In an RTF document you can insert pictures, create tables, format paragraphs and text, etc.

oPlain-Text Document: This is the kind of document that the Windows NotePad program makes. It consists of plain text, with no fancy formatting.

Open: (Ctrl+O) Opens a file from disk. After clicking this button, the "Open" window will appear. At the bottom of this window is a pulldown list called "Files of type". Click anywhere in this list if you want to change the type of file to open.

Close: (Ctrl+F4) Closes the active window.

Save: (Ctrl+S) Saves all changes that you make in your current document. If the document has not been previously saved, this command works in the same way as the "Save As" command.

Save As: (Shift+F3) Saves the active document to a different file name.

E-mail: Opens a blank e-mail message, with the active document as an attachment.

Print: Prints the active document, or the active hierarchy window in the current Workbench.

oNote: The active hierarchy window in a Workbench has the word "Active" displayed in that window’s title bar.

Print Preview: Shows what the active document, or the active hierarchy window in the current Workbench, will look like on a printed page.

oNote: The active hierarchy window in a Workbench has the word "Active" displayed in that window’s title bar.

Print Setup: (Shift+F4) Opens a dialog box for your default printer (the default printer selection is selected in the Windows Control Panel). You can select the parameters from a set of printer-specific options, which include page size, page orientation, resolution, fonts, etc.

Set Margins: Set the margins (left, right, top, bottom) and header/footer positions in the active document. You can choose to apply these settings to the whole document or just the current section, if the document has multiple sections.
