VISION User Guide

The following are file errors you might encounter in VISION. Most of them can be fixed by you or someone at your work location. Click on an error for information about its cause and what you can do about it.

2

Directory does not exist

The directory where the file should be located exists but the file does not. This error will occur if VISION was not properly installed or if the installation was not completed. VISION requires that the report, document, find, query, etc. scripts be located in a fixed location relative to where VISION was installed. Please contact your VISION administrator or call our Technical Support hotline.

3

Invalid Path

See error 2.

4

Too many files open

The operating system will not let you open any more files. Try closing some files in VISION and/or in other running applications and try the operation again.

5

Access Denied

You do not have the appropriate rights to access the file in the given path. Contact your system administrator and politely ask for permission to this directory. We cannot do anything to help you with this error!

6

Invalid file handle

Chances are that this is a bug in VISION. Please contact your VISION administrator or call our Technical Support hotline.

8

Directory full

The operating system will not allow any more files to be saved in the current directory. Try selecting a different directory.

10

Hardware error

The drive in which the file was being accessed or saved is experiencing hardware problems. Please report this error to your system administrator.

11, 12

Sharing violation

The file is currently open by another user.

13

Disk full

The disk is full. Try saving the file to another drive or deleting files that you do not use anymore. If all else fails, get a bigger drive.

If you get a file error message other than one of those shown above, the error was probably caused by a bug in VISION.
Call the FOCUS support hotline at 1-888-468-1200.

If you need to contact our Technical Support staff about any error, please note the error number, whether it is a file error or a database error, and the operation you were performing at the time of the error.

File and Database Errors

There are two types of errors that you may encounter: file errors and database errors.

File errors occur when VISION is attempting to perform a file operation such as opening a report or document.

Database errors occur when VISION is attempting to perform a database operation such as writing data to the database or reading from the database.
